I have been thinking a lot about faith lately. Not faith as in religion, but more faith as a concept. As much as I sometimes feel unsure, there are times, almost always when I am in nature, when I feel a confidence, a faith, a kind of security and certainty that every thing is all right.

When I see images of our Earth from space, I am reminded how much of a unit our planet is. There are no borders or separations – just a perfect circle.

Life is beautiful and hope this coming year we will each and all have the opportunity to spend time in nature and achieve our dreams.

Black Cat

A ghost, though invisible, still is like a place
your sight can knock on, echoing; but here
within this thick black pelt, your strongest gaze
will be absorbed and utterly disappear:

just as a raving madman, when nothing else
can ease him, charges into his dark night
howling, pounds on the padded wall, and feels
the rage being taken in and pacified.

She seems to hide all looks that have ever fallen
into her, so that, like an audience,
she can look them over, menacing and sullen,
and curl to sleep with them.

But all at once as if awakened, she turns her face to yours;
and with a shock, you see yourself, tiny,
inside the golden amber of her eyeballs
suspended, like a prehistoric fly.

I was thinking the other day about reading and how important it has been for me in my life, the lives of others and for humans in general.
I know as a little girl I would devour books, staying up all night to get to the end of a really great one.

Now as an adult I still have that appetite, especially when I find a certain book that I can’t put down. With all of our societies technological advancements, I still find books to be holding fast one of my primary sources of entertainment.

Although these days the web has had an added impact in the way I search for and review books.

Of course there is the ubiquitous and brilliantAmazon, who took the term online bookstore and created a whole other meaning.

There are also many other sites devoted to helping us bookies out.

One site I recommend is goodreads.com they have a great site. It’s a nice way to see what your friends are reading and what they thought of a particular book.
